There’s a $3.2 billion rumor between Apple and Beats Electronics that is catching people’s attention. The rumored acquisition could still fall apart, but if it goes through Scott Hix, president and COO of Sol Republic, believes that this deal would be positive for the market.

“Anytime a company like Apple does an acquisition in a category it helps to value the category,” Hix said. It helps validate that a category “is real and growing and others will pay attention too.” (Portland Business Journal) Unlike Beats, Sol Republic stays out of the streaming music market and focuses purely on making headphones and speakers, which differentiates the two companies from each other. If the deal does go through it will be interesting to see the how the merge goes between Beats and Apple.
